Summary

Thesis structure. The Ph.D. thesis comprises the introduction, four chapter, conclusions bibliography (135 titles), 8 appendixes, 110 pages of main text, 52 figures and 3 tables. The obtained results are published in 33 scientific articles.

The study domain includes theoretical and practical aspects of modelling and controll of the microwire casting using the Taylor-Ulitovsky method, decision support structures construction in systems with high degree of uncertainty and application of advanced materials.

The purpose of research consists of elaboration and development of embedded solutions for the increasing of microwire production systems efficiency, microwire quality control and development of new applications based on the microwires.

The scientific novelty consists in forwarding of new models and technics for intelligent command and control of the microwire casting process with possibility to track and estimate the parameters of capillary in operational conditions. The originality of proposed solutions consists in combining machine vision techniques with fuzzy logic methods and algorithms that allow command and control of the process using prediction of its evolution in real time.

The solved scientific problem resides in the elaboration of an original model for real-time estimation of the geometric shape of the capillary during the microwire casting, which led to the development of a predictive approach in command and control of the process, and increasing the quality of the cast microwire.

The theoretical significance of the work consists of innovative solutions that can serve to accumulate the knowledge of the highly skilled human operator. The implementation of the proposed models involves the development of an online self-learning algorithm for completing and/or modifying the knowledge base, which can be used to adjust control strategies in order to develop the inference engine.

The applied value consists in: 1) elaboration of an embedded technological platform for the acquisition, processing and analysis of data regarding the evolution of the microwire casting process; 2) elaboration of new systems for measuring the characteristics of magnetic microwires; 3) development of detection systems for magnetic microwire based tags.

The implementation of scientific results consists in the use of elaborated models and systems within the Microfir Tehnologii Industriale LTD.
