Field of study: 651.01 – Theory and History of Plastic Arts, 611.02 – History of Romanians (by the periods). Creation of a new direction in the field of humanitarian sciences: consists in the multidisciplinary research of the historical and artistic dimension of the evolution of the Bessarabia plate and ironwork, from where the innovative and applicative character of the thesis resides, thus being laid the theoretical and methodological basis for new scientific approaches in studying the art of metals in Bessarabia / Moldavian RSS / Republic of Moldova. The purpose of the work: a multilateral investigation of the evolution of artistic metal processing in Bessarabia for the XIX – first half of the XX centuries through cultural mutual influences and ascendancies, taking place in adjacent regions, which will lead to the systematization of data relative to metal work art of precious and other metal in Bessarabia. Objectives: to determine the significance of the legislative acts in the development of the art of metals in Bessarabia and to examine the policy of the authorities in the XIX – the first half of the XX century; to identify and describe the main centres and workshops for the manufacture of metal objects; to investigate the activity of Bessarabian jewellers; to compile the list of artistic metal items, its systematization and description; to establish the most important items made of precious and non-ferrous metal found in museum collections and church heritage of our country and examination of their artistic, historical value; to reveal the cultural interferences in the field of metal work art of precious and nonferrous metal; to make a comparative analysis of the two distinct periods in the development of artistic metal in Bessarabia: 1812–1918 and 1918 – 1940s. The research methodology: comprehensive methodology of research and examination of items; historical-comparative, typological, stylistic, technical and technological, epigraphic, etc. methods. Scientific novelty and originality: the thesis is a first scientific study, which considers the multilateral development of metal work art of precious and non-ferrous metals in Bessarabia, as a component part of the national and European cultural material heritage. Theoretical significance: resides in the presentation of a theoretical and methodological overview of the history of the artistic processing of metals in Bessarabia, carried out in a multidisciplinary context of the evolution of humanities. The thesis presents a first synthesis research, offering the opportunity to carry out new trans-disciplinary studies in order to complete the existing hiatus at the present stage in the historical science and visual arts studies in the Republic of Moldova. Applicative value and implementation of the scientific results: the results obtained were approved at 34 national and international scientific forums (4 plenary communications) and published in 7 monographs and about 70 scientific papers (with a volume of about 70.0 ca) / TV and radio programmes. The research results can be used as a theoretical basis for the elaboration of master’s and doctoral theses, scientific publications, encyclopaedic dictionaries, works on the popularization of science and can be used as a lecture course in the disciplines History of National and World Culture and History of National and World Art.
