Work’s aim: spatio-temporal estimation of excessive precipitations on Republic of Moldova’s territory taking into account regional climate changes.

Investigation’s objectives: determining of regional particularities of excessive precipitations’ manifestation; estimation of intensity and frequency of manifestation of maximum annual, monthly and diurnal precipitations; cartographical modelling of maximum one-day rainfall and monthly maximum precipitations on the regional level and on the level of administrative districts; identification of areas vulnerable to pluviometric excesses’ manifestions; temporal analysis of excessive precipitations and determining the tendencies of manifestions in annual, monthly and diurnal aspect.

Scientific investigation’s methodology constitutes theoretical concepts included in temporal and spatial estimation of excessive precipitations’ manifestion on Republic of Moldova’s territory. Using Statgraphics Centurion XVI, Instat Plus and ArcGIS allowed complex estimating of climatic parameters that characterize atmospheric precipitations regime on Republic of Moldova’s territory in the context of actual climatic changes.

Scientific novelty and originality: for the first time a complex study for regional specific of excessive precipitations manifestations in the context of frequent alternations of drought periods with the rain ones was realized; the tendencies of manifestations of maximum annual, monthly and diurnal precipitations were revealed; cartographical models that reflect spatial distribution of annual, monthly, diurnal pluviometric excesses were obtained; identification and estimation of vulnerable areas on excessive precipitations’ manifestion risk on regional and local level was executed.

Important scientific problem that was resolved consists in spatio-temporal estimation of excessive precipitations on the country’s territory; analysis of intensity and frequency of maximum annual, monthly and diurnal precipitations’ manifestation; revealing of regional particularities of pluviometric excesses manifestations.

Theoretical significance. For the first time a complex analysis of excessive precipitations dinamics was realized based on the complex of climatic parameters that characterize maxium annual, monthly and diurnal precipitations; their manifestions’ tendencies, intensity and frequency in new climatic conditions. Digital maps of excessive precipitations demonstrating also vulnerable areas were elaborated.

Work’s applicative value. Some of the obtained realizations on excessive precipitations dinamics are used in higher education establishments for teaching of speciality courses. Digital maps that characterize excessive precipitations dinamics can serve as informational suppport for measures that mitigate their impact on environment.

Scientific results implementation. The obtained results were implemented at university cources’ teaching: Natural Hazards and Climatic Changes, confirmed by implementation act.
